Sharing Our Passion For The Undersea World

At Leybourne Lake Dive Centre we train divers using the PADI system (Professional Association of Diving Instructors), The world's largest diver training organisation. Your PADI qualification will be recognised worldwide... more so than any other diving qualification.

Course Fee: Free! Totally!

Well here’s your chance to try it completely FREE !

A phone call books your underwater adventure with a place on the PADI Discover Scuba Diving "Try Dive" program.

Try it with us in one of our warm pools.  Our pools are closed to the public, and heated to 28°c.  Both pools start at ½ a metre deep and gradually slope to 3.5 or 3.8 metres, perfect for training. We have our pools on Saturdays and Sundays either morning or afternoon – no late night sessions here!

You join us for a lesson on the techniques & safety rules of Scuba and learn how to have fun using scuba diving equipment. You experience your first breath underwater in the shallow end of the pool while you learn some simple scuba skills.

Then cruise down to the deep end when you enjoy the feeling of weightlessness and three dimensional freedom of movement.

If you’re nervous – don't worry: you're in good hands!

We only ever have a maximum of 2 students per instructor for the PADI Discover Scuba Diving "Try Dive" experience.  We will happily give one to one attention to those who want it.

Course Fee: £305.00 (Open Water) £205.00 (Referral Course)

To qualify for your PADI International diving license which enables you to explore the underwater world to 18 metres you need just ONE weekend. Yes we are the only Dive Centre in Kent who can offer you the whole course in one weekend. Same length of pool time, same open water dives, we're just better organised than other centres – and we charge less too!

Prior to the water weekend a session in the classroom, reviewing the knowledge development you have undertaken is completed.

Confined water training takes place on Saturday and Sunday mornings in our  pool.  In the pool we will teach you all the skills you need to prepare you for your open water training.
Our pool is closed to the public, and heated to 28c. The pool starts at 1/2 a metre deep and gradually slopes to 3.5 metres, perfect for training.

You get a minimum of 6 hours of pool time to have fun.

To Qualify you need to complete 4 Open Water Training Dives. These are completed on the Saturday and Sunday afternoons whilst the skills are fresh in your mind.

Two trips to our Leybourne Lakes lets you develop the pool skills you have learnt and demonstrate confidence & competence to dive safely. Once that is completed you have your PADI!

As an alternative you can come to the Red Sea and finish your course in warm clear tropical waters & wildlife. Called a referral course, it simply means that the 4 lake dives take place abroad. If you have a holiday of your own, no problem, we can refer you to a local PADI facility to complete the course with them.

Previously known as the PADI Advanced Course this is the first step beyond the Open Water Diver Qualification. The Adventures in Diving program offers a different experience and two training options that range from simple introductions to underwater activities to more challenging experiences and, ultimately, two different certifications.

PADI's Adventures in Diving Program not only fine tunes your diving skills it also allows you to explore the most intense adventures diving has to offer. Of the certifications you can earn the first option is the PADI Adventure Diver certification. This can be completed by making three Adventure dives in just one day. These dives count toward the Advanced Open Water Diver certification. For this qualification you need to complete the Underwater Navigation and Deep Adventure Dives. You can go directly from Open Water Diver to Advanced Open Water Diver. As an Advanced diver you are able to dive to 30m.

As a PADI Open Water Diver, NAUI Scuba Diver / Open Water 1, BSAC Sports Diver / Ocean diver or SAA Club Diver this is the next step along the path of PADI continuing education. As with all courses at Leybourne Lake Dive Centre we are totally flexible to your needs with this course being run all year round.

ADVENTURES IN DIVING - Advanced Open Water Certification

The course is conducted over two days, the first on a Sunday at an inland dive site called Leybourne Lake, the second at another deeper lake called Stoney Cove in Leicestershire. The course comprises a fun combination of short self-study sessions completed at home in your own time (no exam to this course!) and open water dives in five areas of recreational diving.

As above, two stipulated CORE dives must be completed in DEEP and NAVIGATIONAL work, during which new skills are learnt and practiced, such as how to use a compass.
These dives are then followed by three other ELECTIVE dives in line with your interests and the recommendations of your instructor. These could be WRECK, DRIFT, SEARCH AND RECOVERY, PEAK PERFORMANCE BOUYANCY, DRY SUIT, PHOTOGRAPHY, VIDEOGRAPHY, NIGHT, MULTILEVEL or BOAT DIVER to name but a few.

Our PADI Rescue Diver training is run regularly throughout the year. Conducted over two days, the course is a fun combination of self-study and energetic rescue skills practiced in confined and open water environments.

The PADI Rescue program is divided between knowledge development, confined water training and open water training. The knowledge development portion is handled through independent study at home in your own time. These materials give you the necessary information you need for preventing and handling diving emergencies, with topics including self rescue, diver stress, diving first aid, emergency management, equipment problems, and rescue and assistance procedures for both conscious and unconscious victims on the surface and underwater.

Having learnt a variety of rescue techniques in confined water, these will be put into practise at Leybourne Lake, during a day of open water rescue scenarios, expect the unexpected!

The course is designed to train individuals as safe self-reliant divers, learning to recognise and prevent potential problems, as well as being able to deal with a rescue situation confidently and effectively, should it occur.

We strongly believe that divers who have participated in the PADI Rescue diver course at Leybourne Lake Dive Centre return to the diving environment as competent buddies to other qualified divers whilst showing an attitude of awareness and responsibility by their desire to obtain this valuable qualification.

It is a requirement that the candidate has been trained in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation techniques and basic First Aid prior to this course. If you require this training our PADI Emergency First Response course covers all necessary requirements. (Please ask for details).
